CL65 is the type. SIC is the limitation (or circling mins, or both).

Why would you think hiring was limited to Americans? Yes, there are lots of Euros, probably a 3:1 ratio over Americans.

You don't die from malaria with the proper treatment. The folks who are dying are not receiving said treatment.

Here's an interesting article on Arik's plans for expansion: Arik Air: Pressing ahead with international plans

Hey Tony,

I see this thread is about a week old now, but was wondering if you know if all three spots have been filled? I got my CL-65 SIC type last July at Mesa and was wondering if being that long ago would hurt my chances. I should also mention that I am an instructor in a CRJ200 FTD for a jet transition course. Thanks Tony!

Yes, I've got plenty of names to forward. No guarantee, of course, that anybody will be offered anything.

I'll comment on the article a bit. Arik currently serves J-burg, South Africa, and London Heathrow with two A340-500's. They are both new planes, with a third one coming, presumably to go to Houston and New York.

"Arik's ambitions are clear in its fleet plans. In addition to the (there are four) Bombardier CRJ900ERs, (a bunch of) Boeing 737s and now Airbus A340-500 aircraft already deployed, it has orders in place for five Boeing 777-300s (probably 2011-2012 delivery if I was to bet on it), seven Boeing 787s (?????) and four Bombardier Q400s (this are supposed to be delivered any day, and last I heard it was 5). It also has a letter of intent on four Boeing 747-8s - though has not yet ruled out Airbus A380s (there's no place to land the A380 in Nigeria)- and is looking to (wet) lease at least two A330s (I would guess this fall to winter)."
