That's totally normal. Some foreign airlines will even go as far as asking for a passport photo with the initial application. Forget about equal opportunity.

Are they 100% strict on the jet time part. Or will they take/look at a pilot with t-prop time (less than 50k MTOW)?

When filling out the application, did you really give them your spouse's, parents', in-laws', children's and sybling's passport numbers?
I think that's too much info, specially during the first stage of my application.
I might be willing to give that info once I'm offered employment.
Your thoughts(?)
Also, how long is the contract you have to sign for the type rating?
I guess that makes it 2 questions

Thanks again.

Y.
1st ques.- My feeling was if you want the job, give them the info.

2nd ques.- 3 yrs.

Good Luck!

Did anyone fill out the application electronically? I filled it out and then tried saving it, unfortunately couldn't save it come to find out so I am now hand-writing it out.

Not sure, but you should understand that DEC positions are being filled with Capts. from other airlines SQ, Alitalia, Kingfisher, etc. with thousands of hours of jet command type.

F/O's are also from other airlines. If they aren't typed in the a/c eg. 320, you better have jet time 744, 767, etc.

As of this writing, I have not met anyone who was recently hired with a majority of turboprop time.

You should be able to "print" to file and then send that document. IMHO something handwritten will immediately make the circular file.

I'm all for supplying requisite details, but can anyone hazard a guess as to why Qatar would like or need the passport numbers of my siblings and parents? The only thing I can conceive of is for travel benefit verification, which wouldn't really apply with an initial app.

Sibling and parent info is used for travel benefit data. I don't think you should read too much into this request.

In other words, "Stay away from the 'black helicopters'"!
