Default Airlines in the Philippines

Does anyone have any info of any airlines that hire Americans in the Philippines. I'm hoping to find a job over there so my wife and I can move there. Any ideas?

cebu pacific hires expats. i believe they fly the atr-72 and airbus 319/320. i think the pilots sign a 3 yr training contract and i believe they are actual cp pilots as opposed to contract pilots. If you have turbine pic, you're hired as atr captain. thats all i know and the information is just hearsay...from a cp expat capt.

Do you know how to apply? I've seen their web page before but don't see a way to apply for flight crew.

You should visit the Philippines and hang around at the local pubs close to the domestic airport terminal where you can meet the local Cebu Pacific pilots. That's the only way you can get an interview in the PI, it's not what you know it's who you know.

You can't get hired without a Philippine passport. It's true Cebu Pacific has hired some ex-pat Captains on the ATR program, but they require 500 hours on type to be considered. There are no FO positions for ex-pats and they will not hire ex-pats into the A320.

Is your wife Filipina by any chance? If she is you can become a permanent resident in the Philippines and get a job with CP. Not hiring any fo's on the atr currently, maybe after upgrades happen and expat contracts expire.

To answer your first question, yes.

Even with permanent resident status it's next to impossible to get hired by any Filipino carrier. They prefer hiring Filipino citizens. I have had several conversations with the CebuPac Chief Pilot and I have also had conversations with PAL.

There are lots of Philippine Nationals that can fill those slots. If you want to work over there you have a better chance of working in China or Hong Kong and commuting to the Philippines.

Well it happened pretty easy for me. Got an invite to the interview via email, showed up in the Phils the night before, and got the job. Now the license conversion process... that's a whole different story, or nightmare I should say. Over the next couple years CP is planning on getting a lot of new airplanes, so I would give it another shot when that happens.

My buddy had no atr time but is an expat atr capt. Also, he did mention that there are expat airbus pilots but it may be transitions from the atr as opposed to new hire positions.
