why didn't they call all the emirates pilots who applied to etihad?
is still there the ban to hire pilots from each other for etihad and emirates?
There is no ban on recruiting from within the region and yes there have been some EK pilots coming to EY. I don't have access to the numbers but was told by an EK pilot that something in the region of fifty pilots came over to EY. This is purely anecdotal info so can't confirm it. As far as the recruitment team going to Ireland I don't have any details, a team also went to the UK and recruited from Virgin Atlantic, those guys should be coming soon. I am not in recruiting so I really am not fully up to date on wht's going on.

Look at pprune and get an idea how things are in the Middle East. Emirates seems to be very anti pilot recently, it's strange that so many are leaving considering the job situation world wide.
Every time I read pprune, I end up wanting to blow my brains out, and I don't even work there! Is it really that bad there?

Actually, the answer should be yes.

You need to sit down and ask yourself why, in these dire times, are so many of our colleagues packing up and leaving? With nothing else to go to?

People are voting with their feet. It's time to wake up and smell the shisha.

Hi!

The starting point for this situation is that conditions have DETERIORATED. Once you are used to something, when it gets worse, it is very frustrating, because humans are designed to improve things, and that is what we hope for.

I have noted this same situation at virtually EVERY airline (I have seen this same phenomenon with friends at DAL, Cathay, NetJets, USAir, USA Jet, Air Wisconsin, Trans States, CAL, NWA, etc.). When things deteriorate, employees are upset, and many of them look to leave, when they never have before.

So, for the pilots that can find a job that they feel is better than EK, they leave. For those of us for whom EK is a better job than our current situation, they are applying.

It is like this in EVERY industry on the planet.

You have to constantly update your information, to decide if you want to stay at your current job/career, or if there is one available that you feel is significantly better. That is why lately a number of US pilots have stopped flying and changed career fields.

I was forced to change careers to non-flying, and, when I had the chance, I changed back to flying again.
