Default Emirates Now Accepting Applications 14Sep2009

Hi!

They just opened up again for FOs (no DECs), and their minimums are loosened somewhat compared with the last time they were open.

Conditions there have deteriorated, but it is still decent (if you think DAL and CAL and FedEx and Cathay are decent...if you don't, there's no hope for you!), and it is the best in the Middle East.

Estimated upgrade time noiw about 8 years.

How can one estimate the upgrade at a company that upgrades out of seniority order and hires direct entry captains?

Supposedly they had a "close-call" in Australia today from what I saw on the news last night. They said the TOW was wrongly estimated and that the plane barely climbed out of the airport. (340-500)

(They might be referring to the March 20th incident, anyone who knows enlighten us please)

The alleged incident was in Oz, you are in Greece and you not only know about it but the cause too. Impressive

There was a similar incident that occurred on March 20 of this year, someone posted a link to the article in another thread. Are you saying that there was another TOW miscalculation that happened today?

This is what I saw on the news last night, im not sure if it was referring to the incident on March 20th or something that had happened yesterday. I'll try and contact a buddy over there and see what's up.

Dominican, edited what I wrote to make it more of a question.

What the heck does any of this have to do with Emirates accepting applications?

So if I lived right next to the airport then I would probably know all about it.

A whole bunch of guys put in their app, interviewed, got the job and were just flushed because they were in the pool for 18 months due to no fault of their own.
