Default Metro Batavia...

Noticed they are recruiting... what's the word on pay mins and reputation?

Yeah I know it's Indonesia so we're aware of what we can expect.

They were advertising $4,000 for captains and $2,000 for FO's. If that is in US dollars, that's extremely low pay.

I'm aware of the generally low pay in Indonesia (though $4000 is more than LionAir I think)... the only way the Indo gov lets them hire expats is if they pay the same as the local guys.

Since you've brought nationality and basket weaving onto this thread... I'd rather spend my time with those people down there in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippine Islands than in any city in the US, so hey, maybe it's not for you.

I'm surprised nobody has anything solid for a lead...

I remember LionAir wanted 4000 TT and a type rating, I don't meet that total time requirment at Lion but if Batavia were only looking in the 2500-3000 total range for captains I'd be interested.

As far as SJS, hmmm lets see commit no more than 5 years of my life to the left seat of a 737 for 4000 a month in a country where it costs less than 2000/mo to live quite extravagantly and not even have to think about working at a regional because, oh wow, you have time on a 737 and it's PIC and International, get a little more bang for your buck, and you wouldn't be eatinramen in Jakarta for that rate.

Shiny Jet Syndrome... usually applied to pilots coming out of the pilot mills like ALL ATPS who only became pilots because there was the promise of maybe getting a $15K/year job at the end of their $50K class.

Anyway... still wondering if anyone has a contact for Batavia?
