Default Emirates ?

Hey Emirates guys/gals,

I received an email from Pilot Careers this morning indicating that "We are currently reviewing your application and to process further we require you to update in full all required details."

Is this a periodic, automatic, generic, email or is their something positive/nefarious that might be read into this?

I believe that Emirates will start hiring pilots in the near future. Look at other threads on APC, and you can also look at threads on PPRUNE.

I believe its a generic response. I received the same last year because I had not completely filled out the app and it appears they have changed the app a little this year and it wiped out some info. I wouldn't even get too excited when your application goes to short-listed. I am still wondering about all the guys (myself included) that interviews setup but EK canceled at the last minute.

Hi!

Some guys have gotten rejection emails soon after applying. I have just gotten an email saying they received my update.

They started accepting apps on 15 Sep, I believe, and I heard hiring starting Oct. They are reported to be getting more -380s soon that Qantas??? turned away (spelled it right this time!). Just read getting "X" number of new planes over the next 7 months, and with guys leaving, and no new hiring lately, the poster said he thinks they will be hurting BAD for pilots...took too long to start hiring again.

A number of guys are quitting, as the overall conditions have DEFINITELY deteriorated. However, it is comparable to most airline jobs out there, and better than a lot of others. It seems that EK is the best airline job in the Middle East.

I know 2 guys there: 1 said it was horrid and quit. The others says it is great, and he and his American wife like it a lot.

The training system is basically British, and it is NOT America, so if you need a McDonald's on every block, don't apply.

The original training system and operating procedures, as I understand it, were mostly set up by British pilots, and there were/are a lot of Brits (British Empire) instructors there.

If you are used to the American system, you will have to be flexible. If you are used to, say BA, I'll bet that you would feel right at home.

I am flexible, and will adjust to anything, as long as it is safe.

I would have to say that the training is good, but , you need to be prepared ( well) for your sim or flt. There is not enough time in the program to fall behind. There is NO spoon feeding, if you know what I mean.

10 additional 380 and @ 6 more 777 in the next 10 months.

Rumure that @ 80 have left mostly FO's and American, not happy with the last upgrade change.

The president has said @ 160 A/C by 2016 we are at @ 125 now so not all new planes are additonal.

7+ years to upgrade and in that time frame alot could change, read longer.

Please be honest when discussing this kind of move with you family

That's what I used to say before I worked in Asia....

If you ever get a job in the Middle East or Asia where Brits or Chinese run the show you'll know what I mean....if you think your current boss is strict, just wait and see

I think what Cliff is trying to say, is that airlines like CX and EK do more "Checking" rather than "Training". When you turn up to the sim, you're expected to know what you're doing rather than be trained.

From friends of mine who've been at EK and CX for between 4-20 years, it seems that we tend to get our hands held through training a lot more in the US, than is common overseas.
