Unhappy Where to apply? :(

Hey guys!

I am finally done and ready to apply for a job. Records showing 1500 hours, JAR ATPL frozen, JAR and FAA certificates. Young guy and ready to move anywhere to get a job. But the problem is, where to apply! I have seen some places, but they all require jet hours and etc, and I don't have that.

I don'd mind paying for my own TR, but then I want to have a guaranteed job!

Any suggestions what to do, or where to apply?

Sorry but there's no such thing as a guaranteed job in this business buddy... If you have a JAR license I belive you can work in the EU. The market is more easily accessible for low time pilots than the rest of the world. For now the market is bad everywhere!! Even guys rated on the 737 or 320 can't find jobs cause they got laid off from their airlines (loads of US guys and gals flying in Middle East or Asia) and the contract jobs are becoming very competitive. The only suggestion that i have for you if you don't mind a little bit of adventure is to go to Africa. Lots of jobs there. You won't fly a jet but you will have a chance to fly Turboprops. I'm thinking about Bostwana, Tanzania.....etc. Try the Africa section on PPrune. Besides that, just hang on and pray for better times to come quickly!!!

Good luck to you and all the other pilots in your situation. Not a funny place to be especially when you have a loan to reimburse.

He is right. I am also dual JAR and FAA rated with time in the A320 and can't find squat. Have applied - made phone calls - have had friends deliver my resume to chief pilots - result: nothing (so far). Even knowing some pilots at different companies doesn't cut it. Europe is a horrible market to be in right now. They are always behind the US by 6 months to a year so they are feeling the pain right now. Am still trying with different avenues but the bottom line is that it will take some time.

Even if you pay for your TR (ie: Ryan Air) there is no job guarantee. There is no such thing as a job guarantee despite what the company may tell you. On top of that they will over charge you for the TR. B737NG TR 28500 Euro - you got to be F$^#^ kinding me. Don't forget they make you pay for your application process, interview, lodging, uniform, badge,... anything you can imagine. I just don't get those people who go through that...

I assume you have a right to work in the EU. Even then, countries like France, Spain and Germany are quite protectionist of their flying jobs, usually throwing in a requirement to be fluent in their language.

Africa, China, and India are the most likely candidates. The middle east is full, I think !

India is out if you don't have time (min 100hrs) in type.
China is very competitive.

With such little total time and cero time in type don't waist your money and time on a TR, it won't get you a job and right now it is so competitive out there that guys that meet DEC positions are being offered F/O positions, I agree that Africa would be your best bet

Ryanair will probably be your best bet. Ryanair has a cadet program, where if you pass their assessment and interview, your are invited to purchase a TR on the -800 utilizing their procedures.

I know a number of guys who started 4 years ago with 500 hours and are now getting their command upgrades. Not bad but it's a lot of money to invest.

If you do not have a passport within an EU country, you will need to get a work visa in the UK as you will be employed by Brookfield Aviation, a UK contracting agency.

If you have a type rating on the Airbus 320 and are JAR rated, contact parc aviation , Aegean Airlines in Greece is looking for typed F/Os on the A320.

However, the right to work in the EU is still required. Other than Asia, I've haven't heard of any European operations providing assistance or sponsorship for that matter.
