Just an update.
I'm still NOT signed off, yet! JCAB check 11/29. Little more G/S in Dec. Couple of weeks at home. Physical (4 hours long) on 01/10. Start OBS flights (6) on the 20th. FO OJT (IOE) starts on 26th. Right seat check on the 31st. They've had 3 fail FO OJT/Check in the last 6 months. One opted to quit, the other two retrained. CA OJT starts in Feb., probably will take about a month, but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes into March.
¥/$ exchange is starting to hurt. Was ¥78/$ when I started, now ¥87/$.
It's along and grueling process. I wouldn't recommend leaving a job for this one, but if you're out of work and can handle leaving home for 4, 5 or 6 months at a time.....
I've seen a lot of individuals and some companies make this job hard, but the Japanese are masters of it.
Cooperate. Graduate. Shut up and like it!! :-D

The pay is in Dollars but there is a monthly override if the yen is below a certain level (85 yen/$) the monthly override is about $1000. If it is above then it decreases like it is currently. There are per diem and housing allowances all paid in Yen. The monthly base pay is $8000 along with the other pay it should be around $13,000 per month and a free ticket home each month or you can opt to be paid an extra $1000 so all in all a 14K package approximately along with some Insurances.

The override on the currency exchange has been in the $500 range but now that the exhange rate is higher than 85 yen to the dollar, there is no override.
Not using your ticket allows you to pocket $500, converted to yen. Only if you choose not to use a Biz Class ticket is it $1000

can you comment what may have been there downfall, not to point out their problems and not trying to be insensitive, but what could have made this unsuccessful for the two to have failed an OJT FO type eval?
