…...But there are some who might not be ready nor willing to go back to live in the US just yet thus, still getting the tax exemption. :-)
I will reiterate what others have said here: What are you (or anyone) possibly thinking of going to Emirates for with the beginning of some massive hiring numbers going on in the US from every airline. Is there an airline not actually hiring these days? If so, it's only a matter of time before they start!!
Our contract at EK (terms and conditions: T&C) has been taken away from us slowly over the years I've been here. We all woke up one morning to an email saying that our overtime pay would, with immediate effect (love that term!), be raised from 78 hours to 92 hours. That's because they were flying us to 95 hours some months and they decided they didn't want to pay all that overtime…. so as they can freely do at EK, they simply and unilaterally changed the contract which you signed stating overtime pay would commence at 78 hours. And yes… they can do that.
Believe me, at 90-92 hours each and EVERY month with no letup, your health will deteriorate, your energy level will deteriorate and you will be the last to really see it.
IMO, EK will never offer a commute contract for several reasons: To keep your money in Dubai to spend (helping local economy) and they want to keep control over you and not have you be partially protected by another country's labour laws.
Many people stay at EK because very simply for them, there is nowhere else to go. Their home country is a dead end for aviation jobs.
EK is a place where you can come and as one poster said, save some pretty good coin but it will wear you down with not only the flying.
I've always said and will say again: Coming to Emirates, you sell your soul to the Devil to fly these shiny white jets all over the world.
As another poster said… you REALLY need to think long and hard before coming to this place.
My 2 cents

They hold road shows all over the place. They have held a lot in the US previously. It IS when then need more pilots and/or want US pilots.
I just heard from a 3rd guy at EK. He is a senior capt and is leaving. He said it has deteriorated a lot.
His first choice is another airline in SE Asia, as a DEC, on the aircraft he flies at EK. His second choice is Atlas Air...and after that I don't know. He said he would try for the SE Asia airline first ...

Payscales for Emirates on APC
Are the pay scales listed on APC for Emirates correct? I know there are living and education allowances, but just asking salary or guarantee etc.
Thanks - Madmax
