Emirates road show

Is EK is hurting for applicants now? Not sure, but..............
A month ago they emailed me that they would not consider me since I did not have a Boeing/Airbus type.
Today, they emailed me about a sim test in Jan 2015. I have about 500 hrs 121 time (in " > 30 tonnes") & about 1500 in mid-size bizjets, which technically, does not qualify for their "30 tonnes" requirement.
I wish Spirit or JetBlue would call me before then, I wouldn't be as excited about EK.
I have no clue what these folks, who keep talking about a pilot shortage, are smoking. By the time this pilot shortage may manifest itself, a recession is going to hit us, and the industry will take a half step back....

We all know the best pilots come from the U.S. We breed aviators! I kid of course.

Still a pretty good stream from the lads and lasses with Ryanair. Colleagues I flew with who went to Fly Dubai are rethinking making the jump to EK.

Funny how we hear certain things... I've heard the Ryanair guys are going back due to being disillusioned of the Emirates machine.
The US pilots at EK constitute the 2nd largest group of aviators behind England... So it could be significant.
Just what I've heard....

The chatter on the line is all about "they will learn their lesson" but the hiring and the attrition numbers are all about "we don't care" as long as they have 10 times the amount of applicants than resignations, they will continue not to care.

We are nothing more than a commodity. A warm body filling a seat. Supply and demand..........
I was in training a year ago with a pilot returning to a US legacy carrier. He spent his furlough at the FAA. I can't remember the exact number, but he said the total number of ATP's issued by the FAA for the year 2012 was less than 200.
Most of the rest of the world does ab-initio training. When that is your business plan, you can control the supply with just the pay rates. If you have too many applicants, PTF schemes rear their ugly head.
The world is flush with pilots willing to fund their own training, and others finishing their training "bond". Emirates and other carriers will have no trouble keeping their seats warm.
If they are short Captains, they will just hire DEC. Again.
