Default HNA Hainan Airlines B787

Dear friends,

I was informed yesterday by the crew leasing company I am applying that HNA Hainan Airlines, is canceling the 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. also, I was informed HNA is NOT going to accept Non type rating pilot to apply for the commutable contract.
If you have no previous experience and a type on the B787 or A330 you will have to choose the residence contract which is 10 days off per month or 7 days off per month.
also, they change the screening process and you literally need 20 days for interview.
Phase 1: 10 days
phase 2: 10 days

If any one has a different information, please share with the community.

Unless you are a widebody captain already you can pretty much forget ever getting a shot at any of these advertised non-typed DEC jobs on a widebody. First of all the numbers they allocate for those positions are extremely limited and then the interview will crush the narrowbody guys with visions of glory. Guys getting NTR into the B787 are generally B777 captains. That's your competition.

There is also some bait and switch going on with this contract so be careful with what you sign and agree towards. They will bait you in and then offer you a 787 if you do 2 years on the 737. This contract is so new I have only heard of one ExPat there now. The China Southern contract initially offered NTR DEC on the 787 but after 2 years all of their pilots are essentially IRO (International Relief Officers). They are paid as a Captain but never fly as the PIC listed on the Dispatch release. The flight time will never float as PIC time anywhere outside of China and even then it is highly speculative. The Chinese Captains and FOs will smoke on you profusely and you rarely land the airplane unless an Instructor is onboard. The best paying contracts in China are the narrow body aircraft like 737 and A-320 as that is where the Demand is requested. The Chinese need narrowbody pilots in a big way but if you go fly widebodies you will be resented by the Chinese pilots and ostracized by their pilot group. If you are willing to take 3 years of abuse it may turn out good after they finally sign you off as a true PIC but beware the medicals, check rides, smoking, and many other downsides before the job gets any better.

I just spoke with a leasing company yesterday regarding the A330 NTR program and they made no mention of disallowing the commuting option. I was also told if you already have a CAAC license and can start within 3 months of being offered, they will give you a $20,000 sign-on bonus. I was also told yesterday that screening is five days. In fact the company today confirmed my screening dates in July and it is for five days. Wonder why the different information.

That's not true. I know many guys personally that have gone right from the 737 with zero widebody. As far as the commuting in afraid to say that yes I can confirm this is true. They are doing this because they are so short of pilots

They obviously need to learn a lesson in supply and demand. Making the job less attractive will not attract more pilots.

They just lost this recruit with that stunt. I will stay where I am and enjoy 4/4.

The 20 days screening process is for non CAAC licensed pilots.

Pilots with only narrow experience, I was told by the broker company that you have to fly the B737 for 3 years before they "will" upgrade you to the B787.

Please, everyone with information regarding the cancellation of commuting contract, post and share your info, since HNA still advertising the commuting option.
