Yeah I checked out the gouges seems almost to easy... only thing that kind of sucks is that I am so use to gov plates I have never used Jepp charts before

Just about everyone has the same issue with the Jepp charts; I did too. What I did was order the north east "trip kit" which has all the NE Jepp charts including the symbols guide but it was like 50 bucks so it may not be do-able for everyone.

My friend lent me his ipad he has the Jepp app for his company so i have just been using that

Jepp has sample charts and the legends, etc. all online.

Second this. I was straight govt charts for 11 years before the interview. Looked up the cheat sheets on Jepps website and it was no sweat.

Okay guys serious question maybe stupid....... What is the final approach fix for an Ils approach on a Jepp plate. I mean obviously the faf on the ILS will be glideslope intercept but what if I were asked to point this out...... The cross is still there for non precision... but what is the thunderbolt ?

The FAF on an ILS is the GS intercept even on the Jepp plates and you'll have to identify the point where the inbound altitude line meets the glide slope line. I looked through the legend and couldn't find any thumderbolt symbols so I'm not quite sure what that's about.

Flying is great. Study Jepp charts and IFR stuff. They will teach you the rest.
