Default Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I am ATP rated, so I meet the minimums. I'm excited about starting this new job but stressed about getting enough studying in before ground school starts.

Are there ever any empty legs? Is it ever possible to get simulated instrument time while flying here? I guess the captain might think it's odd of me to want to build simulated instrument time, but I do want to try and get 50 to 75 instrument hours per year and if I'm not getting it in actual, then it'd be nice to get it simulated some how.

Does the captain always fly the plane?

I know charter pilots are required to do checkrides every 6 months. So is that for both the captain and the FO ?

Plenty of regionals hiring if flying a single engine turbine does not appeal to you! Don't want to sit in the right seat of a Pilatus? Plenty of E175 and CRJ seats available.

We fly about half, maybe less of our legs empty. You can get simulated instrument time on every empty leg. We fly IFR anyway most of the time. You will not lack for actual instrument time.

Captains and FOs generally swap legs, depending on the captain.

Captains are required to do their annual recurrent plus a 6 month IPC since we also adhere to 135. FOs require an annual check per 135, and the company also requires a 6 month evaluation.

Fetzervalve, I don't like the starting out pay of regionals nor the idea of commuting on half of your off days. I am moving for PS, and I guess could move for a regional but again the pay in the first 2 to 3 years at a regional are way too low for me.

Toonces, thanks for all your help and info. That's good to hear that i'll get plenty of instrument time and that captains / FOs switch legs often. It sounds like I'll be doing something every 6 months whether it's an annual check, annual recurrent, 6 month check, or 6 month IPC. Not that it matters, but I was just curious about it.

I know you guys are getting the pc24, but why was I thinking you're getting citation excels in the mean time? Not sure why I was under that impression.. Was it ever a rumor, or have I just been drinking too much?

The company is not planning on acquiring any Citation Excels at this time. Don't know where you heard that and I work for them; we get plenty of rumors as it is.

Yes I'll be staying the night before to get plenty of sleep and review more Part 91 and 135 regs just in case they ask. I live 3 hours away in New Port Richey, hope I pass I need a steady flying job and the schedule 8 on and 6 off is nice.
