NetJets International (Gulfstream large cabin aircraft) Pilot Requirements:
Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Multi-Engine Land)
Current FAA First Class Medical certificate
5000 hours total pilot time
500 Gulfstream hours (preferred)
Gulfstream type rating (preferred)
Crewmembers must live in the Continental US and within 1 hour of an airport with scheduled airline service

Could someone with 7000-8000 hours with everything except the Gulfstream type rating and hours get this job? Is it better to go to NJA then upgrade to NJI? How often do they do this?

The "off the street" job requirements are still posted on the website but the most important requirement is that you be an NJA pilot with at least two years with NJA and 5000 hours total time. As of this November, all new pilot positions at NJI will be filled by transfers from NJA that bid the position and receive the award. There are still a few more positions that will be filled this year by "off the street" pilots but they have either already interviewed and received a job offer and are waiting for a class date or have been identified for one or possibly two more interview groups. In other words, apply to NJA. Good luck.

I'll add on to GeeWiz's comment.

First, Gulfstream time and type are not as critical, but they do help. That said, you can pretty much forget about geting on with NJI this year, unless you already had your resume on file with them. I interviewed in Jan and was told that our interview group could very well be the last group for the year. After Nov 08, newhires come from NJA.

How is the QOL at NJI? What are the schedules like? Is it home based as well? Is the compensation similar to NJA?

Better than NJA. 7 and 7 only. Yes. Hard to compare the two except there is no per diem and no hourly overtime.

GeeWizDriver, do you work for NJA or NJI? If so, how do you like flying with them?

I'm assuming that NJI is a go there and come back type of deal, without layovers?

Without layovers?? NO, never, These guys fly all over the world, you need some hours off at the hotel after crossing the Atlantic or Pacific. No layovers would be someone like Sun Country, they'll go to Cancun or Cabo and back to Minneapolis, same day. NJI is the fartest thing from that. Talked to an NJI crew yesterday, they just got back from Ho Chi Min City (Vietnam). They also do tons of domestic flights.

If you wanna fly one of their Gulfstreams, your best bet is to go to NJA, and get on the waiting list. Unfortunately the list is long.......

So's my.....whoops. Sorry.

NJI is a better QOL in my opinion because we seem to have a better work relationship with our schedulers. We don't do much FBO standby, we can early morning show at the hotel, we can work around special events on the schedule, we can actually talk to a scheduler on the phone if we have a concern or an idea to fix something. I general, a less adversarial relationship than A pilots seem to have with CMH. Any of the A "crossovers" will tell you that I is a great gig.

Meanwhile, ironically enough, tonight I am doing an out and back from my home city and won't see a hotel until day three at the earliest. Who knew?
