There's over 100 bases to choose from... why not just move to one of those??? I am a commuter at the moment, but come on!

And they've been pretty much right with one notable exception that I know of: About 2 years ago, a guy I liked very much with about 2 years in the company accepted his recall to Un-tied....er, United. Ouch!!!! He lives in Chicago and didn't want to commute. Poor schmuck.
??? They have bases in ORD and MDW!?

From Nov '05 to Nov '07, NJA newhires were limited to only 5 domiciles. Many that were hired under that contract left as a result of that deal. Fortunately for those who stayed, things improved dramatically thanks in large part to the IBB.

There's no ATA seniority list to go back to. The fracs haven't hired nearly as many former ATA pilots as Spicejet has.

I'm MORE than over the pax airlines!

I have observed during the lean periods the frac businesses go through they quit hiring and hunker down until times get better (protect bottom line). They slowly work the existing pilot groups like rented mules. Some of the more senior folks at FJ will remember this. NJ has some protection with their union contract but the people at FJ and FLOPS do not. If the economy continues to loose ground in the equity and bond markets we will see it effect folks at the upper end of the financial scale. If we don't start pulling out of this recession soon it will start to effect everyone including the rich.

When airlines furlough/fire people they start pouring into the fracs. Jobs that they would not have considered a few years ago suddenly become gold. When the airlines start calling them back some go some don't. The managers at the fracs only hire experienced pilots anyway so the coming or going of almost any group does not greatly harm them. They just need to be very careful to hire folks that are willing to give great customer service. A certain level of piloting skills are a given but you must have a serious commitment toward customer service. Bottom line is they are really looking for ATP level turbine pilots with a great attitude about serving high level clients. This is why they ask so many question during the interview about how you handle personal customer situations. So I don't think being an airline pilot helps or harms you. Just my opinion.

There were/are lots of furloughees at CS, including some key management personnel. Some were returning to their 121 gigs last year, and are possibly regretting it this year.
