OT is calculated at 150% your daily rate.

Your daily rate is your salary divided by 182.

So if you're on 1st year FO pay with a salary of 35K then your daily rate is $192.31 and a day of OT is $288.46.

If you're a 3rd year Capt your salary is 64K and the daily rate is $351.65 and a day of OT is $527.47.

Add to all of that a perdiem of $48 per day.

By the way, presently we are short on Captains and fat on FO's, as a result FOs have a hard time picking up OT. I fly with a lot of guys who not only can't get OT unless there is some emergency going on and they can't get him relieved, but actually sit home for the first day or two of their tours. Of course if you do sit home you do it WITH pay.

Good luck and Fly Safe.

GlasssPilot, are these fo's too new to upgrade? Or are you running short on sim time for them to upgrade?

There doesn't happen to be any former WestAir, SkyWest or United pilots at Avantair are there??? I desperately need to get out of this 121 nightmare and find a place where people actually enjoy their job.

It's not sim time. Currently we train in the sim AND airplane to meet demand. I think it's a function of a hiring gap we had a year ago that's working a bubble through right now. I have heard that attrition is through the floor. No one is leaving so the situation may change shortly.

I don't know about WestAir or SkyWest but I know we have UAL pilots on property.

I think it's safe to assume this Avantair pilot enjoys his job:

YouTube - Top Piaggio

It's a hotrod alright - I've heard it's a lot of fun to fly. Yesterday I heard one from a few miles away and it zipped over my house - those engines are pretty distinctive sounding...

The P180 is a single pilot plane correct? Does the Pic type require an Sic? If not, then do first officers log flight time?

There is no type required as it's a 12,100 lb plane and it's not a jet.

Yes it's single pilot certified, however our opspecs require two pilots on board for all 91K and 135 flights so therefore the FO's log the time.

So if I understand correctly - you can pick one of those bases, and you get it. Then they airline you out? Also - how many FBO appreciation sits are there, ie are you sitting around a lot? Are the schedules efficient? File your own flight plans? Do you cater and clean the plane? Do you load the bags? How's the space for a flight bag - looks a little tight in there. Sorry for all the questions, but if you can answer them, thanks in advance.

Okay...

Pick a base and yes, they fly you out positive space. Both ways (beginning and end of tour).

Very few FBO sits. Does it happen? yes...but very seldom. Mostly it's fly, drop off, fly again, fly again and drop off. 5 legs is not unheard of. 3 is more likely.

We do file our own flight plans. We do minor cleaning of the airplane between live legs. Straighten up, pick up, throw our trash and what not. We do bring the catering out and present it. We do load the bags and then unload them on the other end.

You do not need a flight bag. Nobody brings a flight bag. All charts are on the EFB. Head sets are provided. Flashlights are provided. No flight bag required. I, and most guys, do bring a computer bag that gets stowed on board.

THIS IS NOT AIRLINE FLYING. IF THE ABOVE SEEMS TOO MUCH THEN MOVE ALONG.

Good luck and fly safe all.

That's what I figured. Thanks Glasspilot... you have been more than helpful with all of your answers.
