Default Avantair questions

Just wondering if there are any updates on Avantair hiring? Anyone been called recently for an interview? Any word on when the next initial classes might be? Any news with Avantair at all?

Heard through the proverbial grapevine they were finished hiring for this year, but plan to pick up beginning of '09 to fill seats of aircraft scheduled be delivered.

How do you update your resume on Avantair's website?
Btw - very nice article on the P180 in this last issue of 'FLYING' magazine.
It got a very good review.

Sure is a small cockpit! Cool plane though.

How many hours a month do Avantair pilots typically fly? Where are the junior bases, if anybody knows? Thanks

I've got a few friends there, the flying is alot different from an airline. Some months you fly alot others almost none, it depends on what the customers want. What I remember I think they were averaging 60-70 hours a month over a years time. Their bases are kind of like netjets you can pick where you want to go but with some limitations. Apparently, they can assign you a base if they need people somewhere.

Negative. When you are offered a job you select a base from the list of open bases. If you do not want one of them then you must agree to the commuter policy basically saying that you will report to your base (from the list of available gateways) on your start day and it's your problem to get there on time. If you do not want to take the job with those provisions then don't.

However, if you take the job at one of the 30 some open gateways then that is your gateway forever. Even if the company later closes your base you will not be kicked out of the gateway...you are grandfathered.

There is ZERO chance you will be "re-assigned" to some other base. That would be outrageous and is totally not true.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about a move back to the Pacific NW. Seems like a good option. The hard part would be being away from home for a week at a time.

Portland OR and Seattle of 2 of our newer bases and I know that they are looking to put folks into the west coast to help minimize airling folks from the east coast. Put your stuff in.

The week on is not so bad. It gives the better half time with their boyfriend/girlfriend.
