Applicants who successfully completed the Columbus Interview (Apr-Aug) received a call today extending the WAIT into 2009. No promises. Additional updates to come after the first of the year.
I got the call today as well. I asked if I was in a hiring pool and she said no. I asked my status and she said we enjoyed having you interview, but said that she could not tell me for certain whether I will be offered a job or not. Basically, I understand us to still be in limbo. She said she had no idea about classes next year, but that they are evaluating their needs for next year.
Any idea how many are in the "pool" of not hired, but not rejected? Anyone think some of us may still see a rejection letter, even after 5-6 months of waiting without one?
I asked the same question you did and got the same answer. When I asked about who would fill openings when they had classes, she said that the training department would determine who was tapped based on prior experience and the openings to fill. As far as numbers, she wouldn't say other than there weren't 500 waiting. I have heard of 1 guy from an Apr interview. Everybody else I know of is Jun, Jul, and Aug. In my Aug interview group, 3 of the 7 have been turned down. There were 2 other groups interviewing during the same week (end of Aug), but I don't know how many are still in the running. The wait continues...
3 of the 8 in my interview group were turned down. 5 of us still in limbo as far as I know unless some have not fessed up to being turned down. We interviewed the last week in June with two other groups that same week.
So, she said they are going to select based on prior experience, huh? Wonder what that means exactly? They don't consider the interview in the selection process? Do they want charter, fractional, airline, or military experience? Does customer service experience take precedence over the flight experience? So many questions to be answered.
The biggest one of all.....Will they hire in 2009 and if so, how many?
This is really a sad state of affairs. I can understand where you're coming from. The job market for pilots is so bad right now that we just have to accept this type of terrible treatment. Why can't they just establish a hiring pool? It's really chaps my a$$ to see them screwing you guys over like this. Even if they are the place to work right now People have long memories.

If we are that sad and terrible I suggest that you immediately withdraw your application. We don't need people coming here full of hate and resentment.
Good luck in your efforts but I don't think you need to be working for us.
I didn't read in laserman's post that he had an application in with NJA.
I also don't read hate and discontent in his post as much as frustration; the same which has been vented on this forum before by some pilots who already work for NJA and have a little sense that no one show have to wait for nearly 8 months to a year for a *rejection* letter.
You're comment "I [you] don't think you need to be working for us [NJA]" is a little heavy handed and shows some lack of understanding and/or compassion.
Let's try to tone it down a notch ok?
laserman - if you have applied to NJA then maybe a little mess harshly worded statement of frustration might be appropriate. Right or wrong - you would be just tempting fate that you might alienate yourself and possibly not portray yourself in the best light. MANY people are frustrated at the current situation no doubt.
I understand your frustraion laserman. I think part of it stems from a lack of understanding of the fractional world. Unlike other airlines, fractionals have no mandatory retirement age. Consequently, there is no accurate way to predict retirements and no way to determine how many pilots will be needed at a future date. Add in the bad economy and poor 401K results, and few if any pilots are voluntarily walking away, would you? Adding planes and retiring pilots are the only way to add guys to the fold. Right now NJA is buying planes, but deliveries are delayed (1+ year for the 4000) and even then, that doesn't allow for much addition. Finally, NJA just radically changed the way they handle hiring. Like any change, there are speed bumps and disatisfactions associated with it. In time these will flatten out / go away and we can go back to complaining that we don't get enough pay and work too much. BTW: Change, uncertainty and the unknown are the daily companions of any frac pilots life.
It's really chaps my a$$ to see them screwing you guys over like this.
I think he was feeling sorry for everyone else. I would call that compassion, something Macjet lacks.
I can see the situation already. When the crew meals arrive, Macjet's meals all look great and they're still warm but his partner's never make it. His partner says "Damn, I'm hungry". Macjet says "Sucks to be you, I got mine and I'm going to go eat."
I know it's already been said but everyone I've talk to already on property doesn't like what the TAT department is doing. Hang in there guys
I have been waiting since my may interview. Informed i would be offered a job in august. Got all the PRIA paperwork done by Sept and been in Limbo ever since NJA has been calling me every month. But nothing yet this month???
makes me worry. My hair is getting grayer all the time. here is my interview class break down
10 interviewed
4 hired, 2 no's and 4 in limbo
Patience is a virtue. Keep the post coming it gives me something to do while i wait. for an in doc date
