I have been around corporate flying most of my life and it seems the people who fly mostly for business are alot more tolerant and understanding than those who fly mostly to go play. Not saying all are but most in my experience.
Owner of the aircraft was adamant that he could "fire them and have new pilots in an hour". Captain looked him in the eye, threw the keys for the doors at him, and told him exactly where to stick them. Apparently he did this quite a bit.
The owner did this quite a bit, or the captain ... ? Your sixth-grade grammar teacher would be very angry with you!
Couldn't resist.

Speaking of which, I heard some news report say that a typical round trip on a business jet costs $20,000. What's the truth in that?
It'd have to be a really long round-trip, I think, even in a G-V or a BBJ. The rates posted by Pip above are certainly valid, but include a nice profit margin. Internal costs for a corporation are a bit less. So if the "typical" trip is with the company's own jet, the cost is somewhat smaller. BBJ's and even G-V's are more high-end than typical.
That stated, the bonehead PR move of the century (so far) has to be those auto execs taking the company jets to DC to ask for money. This one time they should have gone commercial. The press are eating them alive.

Way too many factors to put a price tag of $20,000 on it, if they were talking about something like a G-550 from PTK to IAD round trip then they are probably within a few thousand of being right.
Let's say $80 million for a new fully finished aircraft, and an expected time in service of about 40,000 hours.
This gives us depreciation expense of $2,000/hr.
reserve for engine overhaul would be about $1,000/hr.
reserve for airframe maintenance would also be about $1,000/hr.
fuel at about 800 gal/hr, at $5/gal would be $4,000/hr.
Insurance at $100,000/yr, and assuming 1,500 flt hrs/yr would be $667/hr
home hangar rent about $100,000/yr with 1,500 hrs/yr is $667
a round trip with an RON including landing fees, crew hotels, possible hanger fees, and possible deicing is highly variable, but easily between $500 and $3,000. Lets assume $1,000 for the round trip.
According to NBAA data, a G-V Captain for a major corporation can expect to make in excess of $130,000 and a co-pilot can make about $75,000. Add about 25% for fringe and overhead, and this comes to $256,000/yr/crew.
flying 1,500 hr/yr needs two crews, so that gives pilot crew costs of $512,000/yr. at 1,500 hrs/yr, this means a crew cost of $340.
a G-V will also normally carry 1-3 flight attendants, so let's say another $100/hr.
add another $200/hr for catering (depending on load and distance)
This all adds up to about $10,100 per flight hour, plus $1,000 for each RON.
I'd have to say that the quote of $20,000 for a round trip is quite in line for a large cabin bizjet.
a G-V will also normally carry 1-3 flight attendants, so let's say another $100/hr.
Ummmm, I'm not working on the corporate side so I don't really understand the intricacies and all, but what does more than 1 flight attendant on a G-whatever DO for the flight????
