KAF, that is not accurate and you should know it. What you refer to was a "what if", not a forecast. It was an explanation why the bylaws were written a certain way. Either you did not read the whole thing or you just like to make misleading posts. Either way, untrue.

I think this is all called free market business, isn't it. I guess I slept thru class when they said Apple's employees were "at fault" for causing layoffs at Compaq, or "blame Fedex" for Airborne Express's problems.
Ordering jets to squeeze out competition ? You mean like the 777 freighter of which FedEx is buying every single one ? You mean like that ?
This is called "business" and its a fact of life.
Again, this is good news and congrats to NetJets for being ABLE to acquire new jets and get rid of old tired inventory.

The CEO put out a message a few days after the announcement to announce that all the orders can be dumped for 120 million. He then told a bunch of pilots at the mandatory company get together in training this week that if the pilots don't take concessions in the next contract, he will cancel the orders and shrink the company. We knew he would say these things since they are right out of the union busters handbook, but it is disconcerting to know my job is at risk in the effort to shrink pilot costs. The order is good for the business, but way to easy to slow or back out for my comfort.

He's bluffing of course. Cancelling the orders will all but kill NJs by preventing new sales. That's a mark he doesn't want on his record.

They will probably take the majority of the orders to split between NJA & NJE. They may also sell some to customers in China to take the sales profit and then manage. Management has to take new airframes at least slowly, but that doesn't stop then from shrinking both NJA & NJE considerably even if all orders are taken. They already told us they want to dispose of 45 to 60 airplanes a year and even at the peak NJA never took delivery of more than 40 or so in a year. I believe we will shrink regardless of how contract negotiations go unless the economy improves enough to sell new airplanes faster than they can actually dispose old ones. I find that doubtful. I'm sure the company will promise to stay bigger if we take concessions, but I also think they will shrink even if we are stupid enough to believe them and accept concessions to save jobs. Concessions never save jobs- they just drag everybody down.
