Seatlocks
Can any of you gents and ladies too....shine a little light on this for me?
Do Netjets, FlexJet, Flight Options, etc requires a seatlock after training events like new hire, upgrade or transition to new airframe?
If so, how long?
Thanks guys and gals.

OK, I'll try. Out of the loop for over 3 years so no details but this is what I remember from 3 major airlines and one frac. Generally, if you bid a position that required training, there was a seat lock. This included new hires. This was usually about 24 months. If you were displaced or some other involuntary action, no lock. Also, everywhere I have been, there was no lock for recurrent. Lots of exceptions for special situations but these were different at each place. Hope this helps.

Flex has historically locked their F/O's into the seat they start in until the fleet goes away or they upgrade. All upgrades are to the Lear; I am not aware of a seat lock for Lear captains - but it's probably close to a decade to get a Challenger left seat anyway.

At Flexjet, it's two years if you voluntarily switch fleets if they offer it. Even if your number comes up for upgrade during that two years, you're still locked. If they force you to another aircraft then there's no seatlock at all.

For Netjets, it's a 39-month seat lock from newhire, or voluntarily switching airplanes if there's a bid. (There's one exception: If you switch equipment as an FO, that doesn't prevent you from taking the first upgrade opportunity available in any aircraft when your seniority can hold it. Same goes for bidding SIC in an aircraft over 40,000 pounds, as that pays more for FOs.)
If you're displaced out of your airplane into another due to a fleet reduction, you're not bound by an equipment lock and can bid something else as soon as a bid comes out.
