This and there are a metric ton of quality fractional and charter applicants already trained for our type of work.

MGT attitude seems to be "we can hire a bunch or retired airline pilots at 65 who are happy to be FOs for 10 more years before finally retiring"

Not to mention they would get very experienced, high time pilots.
I fail to see the downside from a management perspective.

retired airline pilots are probably the worst pilots they could hire.
(painting with a broad brush so bear with me)
They are not used to the pace, the hours (both length and circadian shifts), the type of airports used, the level of service expected.

NetJets is nothing like flying for a 121 airline and people who make the argument of "flying is flying" are merely degrading what NJA pilots do and buying into the Hansell-like thought process that as long as we have the newest aircraft, we are providing the best service.

Airline pilots do not start out their career as airline pilots, they come from all different backgrounds and experiences.
Military,corporate,air ambulance,charter,crop dusters,night cargo.
I have flown with airline guys with all of these backgrounds.
I even flew with a former Eastern captain who had thirty years at that airline prior to flying night freight with us and he adapted as well as any of us.
Like myself most of them had acquired more than one pilot skill set prior to becoming "airline pilots".
Give the old guys a chance ,you may just learn a few things.

That's because anyone that's been 121 will quickly realize how brutal a work week is here and go back to the regionals, yes that's happened.

Nobody is saying they don't know things. This job is NOT for a 65 year old retired airline captain. Are there exceptions to that? Yes... There have been 2 cases that I've heard of in the last 2 years of retired airline pilots quitting during IOE. This is not the fly to Cabo, sit 2 days and fly home job.

Or...."Nobody is saying they don't know things"...... Jetlife

I'm tired of passengers asking me "are you sure he is safe to fly" bc of the age of some guys. And I know which guys I won't fly with during a jeopardy event in training bc they can barely work the fms.
