At the peak in late 2008, there were 80+ aircraft and 420 pilots on the seniority list.

Any pure guess or speculation as to the why, behind this decision. It is not like the economy is in the tank or companies are suffering aka 2007-2009

I mentioned it in a previous post but many feel the shut down of Citationair was a stipulation for large orders from NetJets. It makes sense.

I don't know about that theory, but thanks for the info.

Thanks. I knew about the Bombardier order but not this one. I wonder what the Latitude is.

Not sure why that would have anything to do with it. Textron was already losing boatloads of money with CS. Between the constant bleeding of money and the addition of a union are the more likely real causes. I fly with two ex CS guys, and know a few others and none of them have mentioned a NJA order as the reason. Hell none of those airplanes are even on property yet...

Latitude will be the Excel replacement over time. This scenario is not too hard to imagine:
Cessna: "Netjets please order a bunch of our jets like you use to and not all Bombardier products."

NetJets: "We would love to order some of your planes but you wholly own and operate a company that directly competes with us.

Cessna: "Citationair is a pain in our side anyway so we will gladly exit the fractional market for your large purchase agreement."
