Anyone with insight to some of the SIC positions. I am out on medical leave from ExpressJet and applied for one of the KingAir SIC position in Atlanta. I'm don't have any CFI ratings and had to go out on medical leave before I finished my CL-65 type rating and ATP, otherwise I would also try for some of the instructor positions that were open too. I have at least one to two years to wait on the FAA before they will approve my medical, so I'm just looking for somewhere to keep up my flight skills and maybe improve a few others, until I do get to fly again. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Instructors are full-time and receive full benefits. Shoot me a PM. FlightSafety is desperate for instructors at the moment and would welcome you with open arms, even with no medical and no CFI. The reason is everyone is going back to flying. Nothing negative.
But if your intentions is going back to flying then the SIC is your choice, unless u need benefits.

I was an SIC in Dallas 3 years ago. The pay was $15/hr. I went through initial as a client in the GIV. It was a great experience, but the GIV wasn't that busy. I spent a lot of time in the book room, helping to organize and throw out old material. Try to get on the busiest program possible.

Thanks for the replies to my SIC question. Pay is not a big deal for me right now (as long as it pays the bills) and my main goal is to return to a flying position ASAP. I have talked with my AME and supervisor and both think this would be a great opportunity to maintain my flying skills and show the FAA that my stroke has not affected my flying abilities or judgement. I like the fact that it is hourly also, because it seems that it will be a little more flexible and I have no problems helping out doing other duties as well.

Our benefits are pretty good in my opinion. Good bonus program too.

Pay update for those still looking into FSI: A couple of months ago all instructors received a ~13% pay bump to help keep up with industry wide pay increases. It puts starting pay in the mid size category aircraft for a ground/sim instructor(king air 350 and similar weight) at ~80k. Larger A/C (Gulfstream etc.) should start closer to 90k. Signing bonus and 2 yr training contract for non previous Type Rated candidates still stand last time I checked.

Bump....
After reading this thread as well as a couple of others, I'm curious to see if a career working at Flight Safety is worthwhile. It seems that there as been an increase in pay but has the quality of life improved?
I'm mostly curious about the Columbus location. I've been searching for a better quality of life (i.e. sleeping in my own bed) than my airline gig. Not necessarily days off but more consistent schedule.
The information I've read (could be a little dated) talks about two days off a week which rarely happens, and a lot of long shifts.
Thank you to anyone that can help with some recent info!
