I have a buddy who is starting soon and he is curious about the process - but happy to be there.
In my class this year, we were just assigned our fleet. No choosing. Didn't seem to be much of any system applied to the selection process. Phenom, Encore, Encore Plus, Hawker and Sovereign assignments.

Thanks!

Aircraft assignments appear to be totally random besides the fit issues with the Phenom. They were trying to put returning furloughed guys and gals in their old fleet but even that didn't happen consistently. They all pay the same so take what you can get. Seniority is everything so when the next furlough happens you may kick yourself for putting off a class date. (ask me how I know) Welcome aboard....I mean to your friend or buddy.....

Stay away from the Excel...they work way too hard.

I have flown 100 hours this year. I will probably not break 200 by years end.

How soon after someone starts class do they typically find out about fleet allocation? End of class? First week?

I was told all hiring was for the 300. But you have to factor Sim times and whats available, guys bidding out and people leaving opens spots. That's why you have holes in the other fleets for new hires to fill. No buddy wants the 300, it doesn't go very far so you go up and down all day and do a lot of work for nothing. It's not a good aircraft for what NJA does day to day. It's not a Citation and that's the A/C to use. The SII made the company! Guys have bid the 300 only to get in the Sim and not fit! Out you go! It's a fact if you're a new hire big guy and can't fit into the 300 you aren't going to get a class date. Limited growth and 10 plus year upgrade means you are nothing more than furlough bait @ NJA! If you're a new hire take the job and keep looking for better! Plan on getting out before the Music stops and it will stop. Just like in 08/09. Everyone is waiting for the next hick up.

Brother after the management shake up the training department shake up and the chief pilot shake up everything is still a wee bit shook up, when something of an actual factual nature is heard concerning new classes it will be promulgated swiftly, your presence is necessary we are busy out there, and contrary to the voices of hate , and derision I am cautiously optimistic about this place. A lot hinges on the next CBA. Cheers out.

NJA will spend the time and money vetting, hiring, and training someone only to terminate their employment based on not knowing how big/small the employee is ?

Are you serious ?
