Sure just on base salary, but even years 8 and 9 on the 18-day in sub 40k can break 100k with some holidays and general overtime sprinkled in (no extended days). Should it be more, oh hell yes, but for the original quote to say that topped out FOs are working 18 days/monthe for 80k is disingenuous.

As a 10 yr FO at NJ, I can tell you that NJ is the place where careers go to die. You don't have to commute, and we do have good medical, but the upgrade opportunity will literally be 10-15 yrs for a new hire.
Negotiations have stalled. We went gang busters for 90 days with the union giving away more then the company. However, now they are negotiating compensation, retirement, medical (which they want), and work rules. Our union apparently was giving away some in the early going so that when we get to this point, there would be some real gains. Well, the company has closed the idea on that!
Lots of pickets scheduled, and new hires will get to see first-hand what contentious negotiations look like.

I found it to be somewhat concerning that they have apparently "suspended" pilot hiring. Impact of negotiations, or maybe they are just to busy? Still think they are a viable option, but this behavior is something you have to account for.
Best of luck to all NJ folks in your contract negotiations!

Thanks.
I believe the hold-up now is the lack of sim time for new hires. Flight safety was barely able to handle the recurrents, and now the added load of new hires has pushed them over the edge.
Give the a month or two, and you'll see some more hiring.

The focus of new hires is the Phenom 300. Thats where the bottleneck lies. 1 sim running around the clock for recurrent with initials sprinkled in. Other fleets are receiving new hires but the company has said they want the new hires in the Phenom. I have heard they are resuming interviews for 2016 classes. I go to recurrent on the 14th I'll find out it more.

just talked to a friend there (recalled furlough) and he seems to be loving life. Hes on the 300. Another friend is in new hire training. What all is NJA looking for in a new hire? Im at 4500 total.. mostly turbine... college degree.. regional FO. Im stagnant and my regional is essentially no existent in a year and a half and I am just looking for something else. No commuting and free healthcare look really appealing. Flying a huge plane isn't something I have to do either.. That said.. i did run into a couple NJ guys at a recent job fair that seemed a bit disgruntled. My biggest concern is the future of the company. I know nothing is for certain, but I'd like to hang my hat somewhere for awhile.
I guess I can just roll the dice and see what comes of the application. Thanks for the informative info in this thread so far.
EDIT: looks like they shut down the application online. No hiring for awhile. Back to originally scheduled programming.
