Flexjet European expansion
For a while now I have been reading in the news that Flexjet wants to set up operations in Europe in 2016 to compete with Netjets.
The thing is that I can't find any concrete info, only the initial announcement.
Does anybody have some more concrete info on these plans.
Any info is helpful.

There is no concrete info that I know of.
IMHO, they will buy out VistaJet for their network and common fleet types.
If the Aerion is to become a reality, they will need European based airframes and pilots to be cost competitive.

If I had to guess, Flex Jets expansion into Europe maybe on hold in light of the fact that management just announced they want to now reduce pilot staffing. With the hard time some companies are having with getting qualified pilots, I would think Flex would not be expanding to Europe when they are looking for voluntary pilot separations from the company. So unfortunatly growth doesn't look promising.

Although being taken over by Flexjet would be an improvement for the Vistajet Europe pilots, I know for a fact that VistaJet is not for sale and that they are expanding their network in the USA in cooperation with Jet Aviation.
The thing with the American pilot union is partially (from what I understood) the reason that FlexJet wants to start in Europe. They have aircraft coming in which they have to place somewhere and while they dont have pilots in the States there are still plenty pilots available in Europe. most of which, especially in central Europe, make less than the US based FlexJet pilots.
As far as the European expansion, this is something that Michael Silvestro said in several interviews in the end of 2015 and the start of 2016, Amongst others here; http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articl...fett-s-netjets
Would be good to see them join forces with a major European company, but NetJets Europe is not an option, Gamma, is already in bed with Wheels Up and Jet Aviation with VistaJet, so the only one left is TAG Aviation, or buy some small company and/or start for themselves.
but I guess as usual, time will tell.

Everything comes at certain price.
VistaJet or anyone else could leave their "alliance" if a right price is named.
As for pilot rank shrinkage. I understand it to be a reduction in pilots per airplane. Not necessarily a shrinkage. Add a few airframes and you ratio hits what they want.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also somewhat of a political/power move...but also to get rid of the guys that are 60+ and a few that are above 70.
