Default Pilot bases at PDX (Portland)

hey folks i am trying to find a pilot base in Oregon located near Portland International (PDX). i am not too familiar with who houses pilots out there and am wondering if anyone knows of someone. I am currently just building part 135 time in a Citation II but am hoping to either hop into a larger corporate gig or start working my way up the regional route. I am looking down the road at ending up in Oregon. Anything either a 135 operation or a 121 gig i could work my way up on would work. Thanx for any info you guys might have.

mike

Live just over river in Vancouver. No state income tax and no sales tax shopping in Oregon.

Careful.... a couple Vancouver-residing Skywest guys got a call from the Oregon revenue board wanting an exact percentage of how much flying was actually out of the state of Oregon. Those that did just the Medford/Redmond stand-ups all year found a hefty tax bill in the mail!

Skywest has a Brasilia base that seems to be hanging on by the static wicks. Hard to get into, even harder to upgrade!

I would advise those guys to seek an aviation familiar tax lawyer or accountant. IIRC, there are certain provisions of the RLA that allow pilots to live in one location and be domiciled in another.

I know that here in VA, pilots are exempt from registering their vehicles and paying personal property tax in state (thanks to a loophole).
