Default Flying Overseas

anyone here every fly for a few overseas? I've been looking for info on flying in Africa particularly. While I am a CFI i'd love to fly cargo or even CFI over there. Any tips? Eversince I went to Kenya I've just always had it kicking in my mind!

TD,

When were you in Kenya? I was there in early '98 just months before Osama blew the hell out of the Embassy in Nairobi. Scary..... anyway, I, like you, have always had that Kenya flying in mind.

But since the Kenya bombing and esp. since 9/11, as much as I am in love with the natural setting and the (true, untampered) wildlife, I am reluctant to travel back to that area because of security concerns.

On a side note, have you looked into air safari operations? I remember seeing alot of american/euro pilots flying around. It may not be flying 777s or A-320s, but it would be a nice change from the pax flying we do in the states.

Have you done a Google/Yahoo search on Kenya Air Safari? It brings up tons of air safari operations in and around the Nairobi and Mombasa area. Surprisingly, many of these places are also flight training centers using the standard C-152s or Pipers we use in the states.

Just a few places I found:

Good luck!

I was in Kenya in 2003. Had a great time. There was threat of activity but there always is. I only live once so I'm willing to go have a little fun in the world.
