Default Plane Lands Sideways In High Winds

If winds were this high, shouldn't the flight have been diverted somewhere else? As a passenger, I would have turned green as in sick, barf bag green.

Looked like he hit the centerline almost spot on, which is something I can't do even without wind . What kind of jet was that? It looked kind of Citation-ish.

Actually that was a pretty darn good crosswind landing. They didn't land sideways at all, they crabbed into the flare and kicked it straight at touchdown. If planes diverted everytime it was windy then nothing would ever get into the NE in winter!

A few weeks ago I landed a 742 in ORD with wind 20 gusting to 45 at a direct x-wind...but I wasn't on TV. Then again I had a primary (a$$hole) instructor tell me I could not do the crab and kick method like the RJ guy did in the video.

The video looks like a blast! Very nice approach and touch down. The whale can land with a 45kt. crosswind? I bet that's sporty The MD11 runs out of rudder at 35kts.

I think it was a CE-750.

That was a great looking landing and looked like alot of fun. One of the great times when we get to use our skills.

(ok, I am joking, but that is how skillfully I land in heavy wind too )
