Default New headset...any suggestions?

I'm lookin into a new headset, and i'm deciding between these two david clarks. They seem basically the same to me, just one is the classic metal band, and the other is a composite. anybody have any suggestions to lead me in the right direction?

Here are the links...just basic stereo passive noise cancellation sets.

If I had to chose between the two I would go with number 2. lighter is usually better. If you have the $ go for the Bose.

I would actually go for the clarity aloft. It is amazing!!! Works better than the bose ANR I tried.

Go for the 10-13. I've had one for eleven years and it still works great. The earmuffs work great at passively reducing the ambient noise and I could easilly wear it for a 4 hour leg without getting uncomfortable. I actually prefered it in the King Air to noise canceling versions because of the convenience of not having the box getting in my way and the constant need for batteries. If you need a headset for a B1900 though or a King Air running PT6-72s, go noise canceling.

as for the clarity alofts, and noise canceling, i don't need anything like that. im just an instructor flying 172s at this point and I'm perfectly content with passive noise reduction.

I have an H-10-20 and love it. I guess it is pretty similar to the H-10-13 (I don't even know what the difference is... Anyone?) so I would recommend that. The most important part in my opinion are the gel-earpads! They are great!

EDIT: I just chcked - th H10-13 is stereo, the 10-20 mono... So I guess that's the difference.

the 20-10 and the 10-13 both come in either stereo or mono.

The clarity aloft is passive reduction. It is just lighter so wearing it all day (like an instructor would) is no problem. I have a 20-10 stereo too. They are both great but if you are gonna drop 350 bucks into a headset you should put 500 into one you can keep for decades. The clarity aloft, or any of the nicer anr headsets can be affordable and take you from instructing up to corporate or airlines. Think ahead of what you need now.

Whatever you choose, check out a company called Oregon Aero. (Google search for their web site.) They make "hush kits" and other accessories for headsets of several brands. Used their kit(s) with my D-Clark back in the USAF, and they were GREAT.
