Had some sweet Pork Loin yesterday for #1 of 4 thanksgiving meals I will be enjoying. Usually we have a mix at each of ones I go to, but Turkey is at all the others.

We have a huge family, and the number of people that attend can easily reach 40 or so. So, at my house, you can generally find three turkeys. One smoked, one deep fried, and one traditionally baked. There is also a couple types of hams, the honey baked and the regular ham. Not to mentiont he sea of side dishes and deserts...

It's settled. I'm going to your house. Anyone want to take my flight on Thursday for me?

When at home, we eat a "traditional" Thanksgiving meal with turkey.

I had an over night once in Louisville, when I was at a regional airline. The hotel restaurant was closed and there was no van driver. I walked to Subway for a "turkey" sandwich, but they were closed. I then went to a Chinese restaurant for some Kung Pao Turkey, but they were closed. I ended up at a gas station and got a coke, slim jim, and chips.

Last year, I was in Rome. We didn't have turkey, but our thankgiving meal was great.

This is the ONE holiday that I have always been traditional wrt food. Thanksgiving will always be turkey. When I am at home with the family, we have turkey and vary the trimmings somewhat. It is fun to change the trimmings around to celebrate either Sweedish (my Mom), German (my Dad), English (my wife's parents), but regardless of whatever else we serve, there will always be turkey on the table. Kind of strange when I think of it, but hey, strange is ok too...

Well, here's an alternative use of a frozen turkey!

Quote:
From Associated Press:
RALEIGH, N.C. - Stopped. Cold turkey.

North Carolina authorities say a shopper clubbed an alleged carjacker with a frozen turkey as he tried to steal a woman's car in a grocery store parking lot Sunday.

Police say 30-year-old Fred Louis Ervin of Raleigh stole money from a gas station before running across the street to a Harris Teeter store in a town just south of Raleigh. Garner police say he began beating Irene Moorman Bailey while stealing her car.

Other shoppers came to her rescue, including one who hit Ervin with the turkey. Police did not release the person's name.

Despite serious head injuries, Ervin got away in Bailey's car and hit several other cars as he fled. But police arrested him a short time later.

He faces several charges including assault inflicting serious injury. Ervin was hospitalized Monday in good condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. He had not yet been assigned a lawyer and was to appear in court Dec. 30.

Hey, I've been in that Harris Teeter! That's a pretty pricey turkey to be smacking a carjacker with.
