At least he wasn't a pilot.

I've known for years that the HR department at Eagle were a bunch of morons, but I never would have imagined a level of incompetence like this... even from them... I'm just waiting for the government's overzealous crackdown on airline hiring procedures that is bound to result from this...

Killed? Suspected terrorist? Really?

Clearly this guy is a dirtbag and deserves a severe punishment- we can all agree on that. However, I assure you that if he had ANY ties to terrorist activities, the media would be having a field day.

Assuming FA's have to go through strict security clearances before they get on the job, I'm more worried about how the DHS/FBI/TSA allowed this guy to pass the all the checks.

This guy is just a symptom- not the problem.

backround checks cost money. DG had an idea on how to save a few bucks for AA.

He may not have, but the way this was done, he could've been anyone and they would'nt have known until it was too late... they didn't even know his real name until he was arrested... he could've just as easily been a top leader of any of the world's terrorist organizations...

That's the bigger issue... they're probably going to have to stop all hiring at Eagle while they're hiring policies and procedures endure government scrutiny... then they can talk to AA and ask to borrow money to pay off the millions of dollars in fines that's sure to come from this... if ASA got hit with half a mil because of a maintenance issue, this one could get ugly...

What I don't understand is the person whose identity he stole was ARRESTED four times in Largo, in Pinellas County, between January and October 2008 on charges of criminal mischief, domestic battery, witness tampering and battery with a deadly weapon. Yet he got pass a 10 year background check. smh

That's really the best part isn't it? Unless you were going undercover in a prison, that's one person whose identity you DON'T want to steal.

They won't hire PILOTS with tickets. I guess if you could drive the beverage carts, FA's would need a DMV check too...
