What pays the most? That's what I'll take.

My father owned a TF-51D. That was in the 1960's he bought it for $7500 USD and doubled his money on it when he sold it in the early 70's thinking that he's just pulled a fast one.

He told me that he rationalized the purchase by doing some creative financial figuring and when adding in the cheap purchase cost and the speed that it was cheaper than buying a new Bonanza and because of the speed it gave a better LB/NM efficiency rate and thus was "cheaper" to operate.

There ain't nothing like a little creative rationalization to make a fantasy into a reality I guess. I just wish he'd pickled it and kept it in a hangar for me to use for my current travel needs. Of course I couldn't afford to fill it with Av Gas even once a month and lets not even begin to talk about insurance and maintenance but it sure would look cool as a yard ornament!

There are a couple oldies on the field here at KCRG... P-51D, Lockheed Electra (don't remember the model... But it's the one that was used in the Amelia Earhart movie), seen an old DC-3 around here several times, and there is a guy who has an F-4U Corsair up in Fernandina (KFHB) and he comes around a couple times a month too. Lots of military stuff buzzing around all day... Just a couple moths ago I saw a couple of A-4 Skyhawks, Super Hornets, an Israeli-made Kfir, and an EA-6B scootin by at my FL in formation... It was pretty cool
