Chris,

Two suggestions...

Adding an "Estimated Fuel Remaining" function (a twist on the "Burn to Destination") so my lazy butt doesn't have to do the math would be appreciated. Simple variables: Total fuel on board, total Flow, distance remaining, and current groundspeed.

Also, you can improve the "Burn to Destination" & "Time to Hold" functions by eliminating the "# of Engines" field and simply use a "Total Fuel Flow" number. I suggest this as I will often have different flow values for each engine, so I can get a more accurate figure if I don't have to avg. my flow values as your app currently requires.

Cheers.

I set out to create an app that I would actually use -- one that's simple, accurate and efficient. While the iPad version is new, an iPhone version has been available for a little over a year. The app is not unit specific and may be used in general, corporate, military and airline type flying, if so desired.

I'm well aware that some aircraft have bingo fuel capability built right into the Fuel page or elsewhere in the FMS/FMC, which is fantastic. Here's hoping I see an airplane like that sometime soon! Until then, here are links to both:

iPad version: Connecting to the iTunes Store.
iPhone version: Connecting to the iTunes Store.

Or, you can simply search for "Bingo Fuel" on your iDevice App Store.
Check out the iPhone version if you're curious about customer reviews and ratings.

Thanks for giving this a look! I had a great time creating these two apps, and hope they will come in handy for someone out there.

Best regards,

Seriously???? You guys need an IPhone to figure out when you've got to your alternate??? Unbelievable!

Need? No.

Does it help make things easier to cross-check and potentially eliminate pilot error due to things like fatigue? Yes.

@SayAlt,

These are fantastic ideas, especially total fuel flow. I will implement that across both platforms as soon as I'm able.

I'll take a look at Estimated Fuel Remaining too - I see what you're getting at, and I agree it would take even less potential error out of the equation -- thanks for the suggestions!

At this point, I'll probably build in a way to allow the user to switch between schemes (the current one and an 'enhanced' one that implements your feedback.) That way, if someone wants to continue to use the old way, they won't be forced to adapt to new UI.

Thanks all,
CSF
