Thumbs down Saudi's behind 9/11, US govt covered it up

This article just came out today:

How US covered up Saudi role in 9/11 | New York Post

And then this NY Times article talks about how Saudi Arabia has threatened to cause economic fallout to the US if the Congress passes a bill declassifying the missing 28 pages of the 9/11 commission report:

And Obama is working very hard to quash the 9/11 bill in Congress and going over to bow to the King again very soon.

What was your point, again?

Twenty-eight pages of the 9/11 Commission Report, which are said to focus on the role of foreign governments in the plot, remain classified. Saudi officials asked the U.S. to release the redacted 28-page section in 2003, saying this would give them the opportunity to defend themselves against claims of involvement.

But the Bush administration refused, saying the material would jeopardize their ability to gather intelligence on suspected terrorists. The Obama administration has carried on that policy.

Thanks.

A couple of minor princes were involved or supportive, but the kingdom ensured they had accidents shortly thereafter. I'm satisfied they cleaned their own house at least as far as 9/11 goes.

I noticed that the price of tin foil on the spot market has increased as of late.

The House of Saud is not a house that can be "cleaned".

In general, no. But the real power brokers in the very extended family have no interest in mass terrorism, they just want to sell oil and enjoy the proceeds in their own way. Global disruption is bad for business and they sure don't want the CIA or JSOC to come looking for them or their kin.

Even if you think Saudi is an enemy of the US, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

The house of Saud and it's people are mortal enemies with the regime in Tehran. And the regime in Tehran in infinitely more dangerous to the USA than the house of Saud ever has or will be.

The Saudis have been an invaluable ally to the US in the ME in countless ways over the last 100 years. We would do well to preserve our relationship with them, at least until time and/or revolution brings true democratic accountability to Tehran and Iran's threat to the US and our allies is greatly diminished.
