I know there are and there could be any reason for that. Maybe they got lucky. Maybe they filled a diversity spot. Maybe they scored great on some online test. Maybe their Dad is the chief pilot. Who knows. The majority of the guys/gals that I know who've gotten hired at those places have great resumes with some diverse things on them. Instructors, Evaluators, Dual Qualified Mil guys with thousands of hours Heavy international PIC, Chief Pilots, Squadron Commanders,.... Those are most of the guys that I know who've been hired at legacies.

For every RJ FO with 1000 hours in a turbo prop there are probably 10 Instructors or Evaluators being hired. Just an opinion but it should be an experience that most pilots want to have on their resume.

I'm a male and that's a bit harsh. I've flown with some great females who'd deserve a job over me anywhere any time.

"Chick"?...really? Please check that 1950's Mad Men attitude at the door when you post on a public forum.

Upgrade to 767 captain is a bit under 5 years now. I think junior 747 capt is 12? Years...but that number will drop quickly as certain years not many guys hired. Guy hired in Aug 2010 is about 150 numbers away from 747 Capt.

That number already dropped quickly because of the hiring gap. Yes, junior captain is under 5 years, but from that point on about 400 people have been hired. At 20-30 retirements a year a new hire needs growth and attrition or it'll be a loooooooong time until they upgrade.

There will continue to be attrition but most of the Captains will stay. I think upgrade time for a current new hire will be closer to 7 years without company growth. I'm at 3.25 years right now and I know I won't be able to hold Captain in another 15 months. They probably hired 150 people in those 15 months... I bet it's another 2 years for me. Maybe more.

I passed the written test back in the fall, but I never heard anyting else back from HR. I am debating going to Women in Aviation so I can meet with the recruiters in person to see if that will get me an interview.
Does anybody here know or think that meeting them at a job fair will help get me that last step? Are there guys here who are convinced that a job fair got them the interview with Atlas?

I went to the job fair in MIA in January. I had done the written test just few days prior.

Still waiting for a call.

So does it help to see them? No.

On the other hand, if I was available to meet them again in DFW, I would. The more time they see my face with the jumping and crying until they call, the better I would think...
