Any more information on the HK tax hit? Will the company pay that tax, as it is beyond your control to keep from flying in/out of VHHH?
There is no way to answer that question. The imputed taxes are randomly applied. It is a punitive measure from the company's heavy handed tactics from years ago.

New FOs are based in ANC and they may have to travel to ANC 3-4 times a month. If the price of a ticket is $650, then your pay statement would show that you made $2400 and you will be taxed on that. You could end up losing money.

We had pilots who were forced to quit before we had gateway when the company opened the Stansted base in the UK. It was costing them money to go to work.

Think about it.

The imputed taxation was hoisted upon us by our Lorenzo stooge management to deincentivize us from using company paid tickets to get to work and to economically force us to use our jump seat privilege to get to base. Once you are "volunteered" to pay tax you cannot un volunteer. The good news is one of the main players in this was recently give a big fat promotion. Spirit of Lorenzo....alive and well here at Atlas Air.

3 vacation weeks drop you to 62 hr guarantee
A sick call drops you to guarantee
A training event that is not worked on days off drops you to guarantee.

I know some people here dont like my data but its not a matter of opinion, its the embarrassing facts, on 6 year pay, a 767 capt who maximizes 3 vac weeks, conflicts training, and calls in sick once will be more in the $126,000 range.

I calculate this based on 6 months at guarantee and 6 at 78 hrs. I feel based on my experience here I am even being optimistic in my numbers but I am sure others are less motivated to conflict training etc. For me 17 days is enough. I am unwilling to do my training on days off and I take my vacation.
I can see how you came up with these numbers... maximizing use of sick time, don't work entire month your on vacation, use every bit or per diem when on the road, etc. But man you really must hate your job. YOU DO however illustrate an important point, the point being that if you really don't want to work and want to maximize your time at home Atlas is not good right now due to the terrible contract we are working under. If you however like to fly, enjoy your job, i.e. don't use 3 sick days every month, still work on months you take vacation, don't conflict bid training, you will make a lot more money than you illustrate.

Calling in 1 day sick does NOT drop you all the way down to 62 hour guarantee.

I think you are purposefully trying to show how horrible pay can be if you really, really work at not working. And by doing so you think you will somehow magically dry up the pool of pilots willing to come work here.

Here is a little news for you. Most of the readers of this board take what is written here with a grain of salt because they know there will be exaggerations like your posting. Plus smart guys may be thinking that due to the law of supply and demand, things will improve or the company will not make it. So yes things really suck here right now compared to everywhere else, but the question is will, and when will, we get a better contract.

So lets stick to the facts:

It is a HORRIBLE contract.

Besides pay, only 12 sick days a year and they are use or lose! And when you call in sick on the road those are days you don't get paid for!

62 hour guarantee if you end up working 12 days or less!

Sitting reserve for 16 hours! And say they call you out at 15:59 - You can work a normal duty day! Thats right!, 16 hours sitting reserve plus a 8 hour flight 2 man, 12 hour flight 3 man, etc.

Getting sent home early on a bid awarded line, and not being paid for your bid awarded line.

Getting pulled off a bid awarded line! Even if you bid awarded line has not changed! I got pulled off a HNL - SYD run last year and put on a LAX -ICN. The they put my bid awarded HNL-SYD line to open time bidders!

When the plane breaks, they will make you sit on the plane until you can not make it to your destination within duty day limits. I had one night where I sat on the aircraft for 10 hours while MX worked on it.

These are all facts for someone who loves flying airplanes and is not in the wrong profession.

This assumes no extra flying on days off. +/- 10% depending on sick calls, how you use vacation, conflict bidding training, etc. That's all pretty meaningless for new guys though, no idea what kind of seat a newhire today would be looking at in the year 2022. I've always made about 3-10% less than hourly rate x 1000 at Atlas, except my first year, under the old contract, during which I made significantly more. Let's just say 75% of the way through 2016 and I haven't yet grossed 100k, sitting left seat in a widebody aircraft.

It's because our schedules here aren't block time productive like a normal airline. Most of us rely on the 1 hour pay per 4.95 hours at work trip rig and industry lagging 62 hour guarantee (50 hour 1st year). Due to contract language we can and often are sent home early from trips and dropped to guarantee on the company's whim. I'm not trying to complain, these are just the facts.
This is more realistic.

Slightly more senior pilots might actually make less because they can successfully conflict bid vacation and training (I am not always able to) and I get rolled into my X days involuntarily a few times per year on reserve patterns.

There's another investor who believes this? I've only seen this article.

Wait. Hold the phone..
You're telling me, they need you in Dubai. They buy you a ticket to get there so you can do your job. And they CHARGE you the tax?
Ok, I'll stop working on my Atlas app.

Sort of. as I understand it they just realized pilots would have to pay Hong Kong tax if they overnight more than 60 days per year or 120 every 2 years. Managements way of dealing with it was by informing our union. We haven't heard from them since regarding a solution. So I believe the next step is to present this in a grievance or a court case as it's blatantly illegal
