Many other ACMI's that have DOD contracts have U.S. citizen pilots that live abroad.
I thought the rule was you had to live in the US for the past five years, unless you were military/federal stationed overseas, or is this just for FedEx and their postal contract?

I can't imagine DOD contracts would even require US citizenship, there's plenty of "ISAFs" running around in Antonovs and Ilyushins in Afghanistan that are on DOD contracts.

Got to tour an IL-76 last year in Afghanistan, I'll tell you, those FSU Captains have it made. Nice ashtray next to the Captain's seat, he was eating lunch, in the back with the crew attending him. The navigator, the only one that spoke English was allowed to show me around, the crew had nice bathrobes hanging up, Cuban cigars and other assorteds. Not a bad gig.

Sorry you misinterpreted that as having a narrow mind. (and sorry for not elaborating my initial query).

Over and out chief!
Since it's pretty clear from your comment (highlighted) that you don't know 744, a friendly piece of advice from one who does...you might want to let that one drop. As Lewis Grizzard once said, "I don't believe I'd a said that..."

I believe it's just FX that requires the 5 years living in the U.S., exclusive of Military, DOD, etc.

And before someone asks, it's been addressed in OTHER threads, MULTIPLE times. A foreign airline's "commuting contract" satisfies the requirement of living in the U.S.

Sorry to ask a question that has probably been answered already but this thread is over 500 pages...

Has/Will Atlas hired pilots without ATP's and any turbine PIC? I've got over 3000 hrs 121 SIC turboprop time..Would it be a waste of time to apply?

I'm pretty sure ATP is a minimum, and while the hours are probably fine, they don't make you very competitive hours-wise.

But, you'll never get the job if you don't apply, I'd say send them a resume/PAQ, and continue to update, attend job fairs Atlas will be at and continue to update your resume. Continued interest says a lot too.

Good luck!

Yes, it can happen. It happened in my class (pretty sure no ATP), so keep trying. I just finished training, and all I can say is this:

To all of you out there looking in, keep at it. I'm sure I'll have gripes eventually, after all I am a professional pilot. However, this is my 4th rodeo, as it were, and this place has it together.

The mins on the Atlas QuickTake say "ATP, 2000 TT and 500 turbine"

The times are fine, just need the ATP.
