Some quick pilot maths show a difference of ~$30,000 in earnings over the 2 years seat locked on the 767 at a lower pay rate (based on 75 hours/month).

25 months to go...
That's the right math. 24 months to go here and still having fun.

Wouldn't count your chickens before they're hatched. Think the only FOs who are averaging 75 a month or more are doing the Afghanistan runs.

Unless you're senior enough to hold IAH which makes the 767 discussion moot.

So does this mean guys are only out for 15 days or are we strictly talking block hours?

It's not a matter of counting chickens. I need to credit 74 hours on the 767 in order to equal 62 hour guarantee on the 747. No matter how you slice it, this translates into better compensation...either in the form of cash or more precious time off. 10 more months...

A lot of guys will get "optimized" down to 15 or so. Usually in the form of the last 3-4 days blowing up and spending a day on r-1 after grabbing a piece of that.

I understand the money involved but going from near the top of FOs in the 76 to the bottom 25% of HSV or CVG in the 747 will leave its mark in its own way.

FWIW I'm averaging 66 hours per month since I hit the line. YMMV.

Oh yeah, and I'm still having fun.

How do you figure bottom 25%? I'd be barely below 50% on the CVG 747 list today...and who knows what it will look like next fall. It sounds like you're rationalizing something that doesn't impact you. You got the better paying equipment. Congratulations.

Remember the rig is time away from base and not a day rate. So if your trip starts at 12z and gets back at 12z on day 17 you'll get 384/4.95 ~ 77.5 hours credit. Leaving at 18z and back at 6z gets you down to 75 hours.

Just had a three day (OK 2.4 days TAFB) LCF trip disappear so it's guarantee for me this month.

OK OSA. I'm the rationalizing idiot. Look forward to having a beer with you in Nairobi next Christmas.

OK hvydvr,

I must say that my previous remark was because you struck a nerve while talking about a pay issue that doesn't impact your fleet. If I was out-of-line, please accept my apology. But you must know: I NEVER called you an idiot...I don't do that. Peace.
