Our next captain upgrade was hired in Nov of 2009.
That's 5.5 years and dropping. Although we want our new pilots to get a stab at the left seat as soon as possible, we find it takes about 3 seasons until you are solid.
As I look into my crystal ball for 2019, I see your upgrade time being in the 4 to 3 year range for a pilot that joins up for our June 16th class.
Shoot us an Email if you're interested. We would love to talk to you. If there is an item that is making it difficult for you to make the transition, let us know and we can work with you.

is it true you have to fly yourself to Anchorage for the interview and then again to Anchorage for training if selected??
I'd love to fly for you but I can't afford to travel willy-nilly to Anchorage.

Dash 8 pilots are getting about 12 days off a month. The days off are sprinkled over the month in accordance with preferential bidding system.
If you would like more info on the schedule, let's sit down and look it over together. Submit your resume to [email protected] and let us know you were on the APC forums. I'd love to talk to you on the phone so we can get past the chat room post/respond barrier.

Right now, if you are out of town we can complete both the qualification interview and the formal interview over the phone. We offer tickets from anywhere in the US to Anchorage for ground school so you are not out of pocket. Housing and Transportation is still in your hands; we don't want to over manage it for you. The $3000 reimbursement offer can be used for any of these expenses that you incurred to make the move: eg hotel for groundschool, room rent for ground school, transportation to ground school, etc.
The only kicker is we will flight test you the day before ground school if you are not currently operating in the commercial IFR environment. If you can't pass an IFR flight test you'll be on your own. The test is nothing more than basic IFR with a non-precision approach. Anyone who is IFR current does fine.
If you are interested, please submit a resume to [email protected] so we can get you in the process. Make sure you indicate you saw us on the APC forum and would like more information.
We look forward in hearing from you.

Interesting.
Thanks for the info; I wasn't even aware of a $3000 reimbursement - very cool! I understand housing is up to me and that'd be no problem; I'm sure I could pass the IFR test.. at least I'd like to think so ha ha.
When are the next rounds of interviews and classmates coming up?

It's all spelled out in detail in the inter-certificate transfer policy. If you are flying for H6, just grab that.
If you are not in the company now and can't grab that document, the short answer is no. However there are caveats that management may or may not choose to use which would influence your final tier placement.
