On that note, has anyone ever got a TBNT without getting a call? In other words, do they just keep the 11,000+ apps swirling around in a bowl of 1's and 0's until the window closes and then whoever wasn't picked then gets the TBNT? (probably years later)

Hoping to reinvigorate this thread (although it is somewhat similar to the Interview Calls & Hiring Predictions thread). Couple of things:
1. A little different from others was that my LOR from the M&G was never posted to AirlineApps - it was, however, sent to the hiring department from what I understand.
2. There haven't been too many posts from the June interviews - did anyone NOT get the job offer? Any insights or advice for some preparing for August?
Thanks.

I see you are an IP and I think that will count for a lot if you get face time with a recruiter.

I have had three separate M&G over the past 2 1/2 yrs. 7000 TT, 600 TPIC, 4 yr degree, clean record, 6 internals. Every meet and greet went really well but I don't think they carry as much weight as they used too. They do 3 or 4 a day times every CPO throughout the system plus what the the other managers are recommending = a pretty sizable "short" stack. It can't hurt but it isn't the golden ticket it once was.

3 Meet and greets? The reason they probably don't carry as much weight is because they have been overly exploited for lack of a better term. I do believe there is a point on the power curve when too many recommendations from heavy hitters can possibly be viewed in a less than positive light. Is this the case at UAL? I am not sure, but something to consider.

BTW, You do know who invented the 8 track tape player? Additionally, I knew someone that tried to get on with United for 3 years and got nowhere. Reluctantly and under advisement, they took advantage of their Hispanic surname and were hired in about 3 weeks...

BTW, This person was an exemplary pilot and very deserving of hire regardless. This was all legal and United got their box checked...

So, yes, if this is accurate then a M&G is huge. 50% from a stack of 700 and 50% from a stack of 11,000.

From the ALPA MEC Summer magazine they said this: There are 11,700 apps on file at UAL. Of those about 700 have M&G recommendations. Apps are being pulled for interviews at about 50% from this stack and 50% from the other. Also said that they were looking at even increasing the percentage drawn from the "known" candidates (700) because empirical data has shown they have a higher success rate in the interview.
