I know DL doesn't for indoc, but I thought they did for type training. I know AA and SWA provide hotels for the whole shebang. Do the others not? I thought that was kind of an industry standard, but I am very new to this industry. It seems like a poor way to greet a new hire that is presumably making huge life changes and is taking a pay cut to start their dream job. I guess it is easy fodder in a contract negotiation.

Sorry for yet another question but I have searched and can not find an answer. Maybe it's a limitation of searching via iPhone but that is all that I have to use on this trip. :-(
What is pay during training?
Hotel provided during training?
Guessing 3 months for training & IOE. Sound right?
Again, thank you!

I am going to rent a room in a house that's about half a mile away from the training center for $500 / month. I've seen other crash pad rooms advertised for $250-450 / month.
The new hire training is 10 weeks: first 5 weeks are ground school, Mon-Fri, 8-5'ish. 2nd 5 weeks is the simulator training, including the type rating check ride, plus a couple of top-off days of differences training and ETOPS. The sim schedule is varied; for instance, I have a friend who just finished training and he came home on a Friday and went back on the next Tuesday for his next sim.
OE, from I understand, consists of two trips: one is basically a 4-day trip flying to a variety of places. The second trip is from SEA to Hawaii, for the ETOPS certification. For those based in ANC, I understand there are two more trips to get the Arctic check-out. Basically, OE is about 2-4 weeks long.
I start on 21 July, along with 9 other new hires ... the first class of the summer started yesterday, then my class on the 21st, then another class on 4 Aug, and so on, supposedly for awhile.
Hope these answers helped!

UAL does from day 1, 24/7 per diem, and a bump in monthly credit while in training. Meaning, one can make MORE in training then when they hit the line.
FedEx doesn't pay for hotel in training, and actually pays pretty crappy in training.
L-UAL didn't pay for a hotel in training pre 9/11 or during the brief 2007-2008 hiring era. L-CAL did pay for hotel and per diem before the merge, but at a pathetic hourly rate.
NWA paid for hotel in training.
But........but......they have XX,XXX applications in the stack, they'll NEVER run out of people that will suck it up for their "dream job"!!!!!!!!.
Sadly, there's a bit of a "I had to do it/suck it up, YOU SHOULD TOO" mentality that is FINALLY starting to erode at some of the carriers. But your point is valid/understood.

So what's the skinny? Is there still talk of opening the application window again? Has anyone heard of interviews scheduled soon? What qualifications do some of the new hires have?
Thank you in advance.

Do what you have to I guess. I cant see paying for Hotels during training, why not just work for free? We could all be aviation *****s then and live under a bridge just so we can fly "a shiny new jet and wear a uniform"....

The talk is of opening the application window again in August.

I received an e-mail from Alaska yesterday that said this:
"Just wanted to update you in case you were at Oshkosh or planning to go this weekend, that the Alaska Airlines Pilot Hiring team will NOT be at Oshkosh on Sunday 8/3.
