This was my first deer hunting, we had two dogs finding the animal, I sat at this post, and shot this deer at about 20 yards with 12g Shotgun, with Eley BB1 bullet. 2 Shots fired, and now soon my first deer dinner
Congrats on your first deer. That is always a great experience. Did you really need 2 dogs to find that deer after you shot it? I mean seriously man there was snow on the ground!! HAHA

Not two dogs to find it, but they were two dogs chasing the deer towards my post, or where i sat..
Was a good hunt, i'm off to try again sunday, and after christmas, i'm picking up my new .308 remington 700 sps
Well I won't knock you for it but most sportsmen (including myself) believe that hunting any game other than birds with dogs is not sporting. Using them to either move the game to your location or tree an animal is wrong and in a lot of states illegal.
Since you are getting your .308, you have some range with that. Try and do it more sporting by finding the trail, covering your scent, and get in a blind or tree stand. I honestly think you will enjoy the hunt more. It's the hunt that matters, not the kill.
Congrats on taking up deer hunting. You will have to let me know how your first meal turns out. Cooking the meat is fun, getting everyone in the family to eat it is another story.
p.s. I figured that you didn't use the dogs to find it once it was down. I was just hoping that you did.
Also where did you take this one? Looks cold. PM if you want.
I wanted to say Wisconsin or Minnesota.

A little bit east of wisconsin, I most say. This is in Norway, I know airlinepilotforums is an american forum or mostly, but I have worked as a pilot in the States for over 2 years, and ever since i've came back, wanted to get a job back there, but aviation business i slow in us as well in europe for the time beeing.
Since i'm a rookie hunter, to use dogs for hunting in norway, is probably the only way to get close to them, due to the rough terrain. The mountains are so steep, and often go from sealevel and up to 2000meters.
I'm saving up money to someday go hunting in Canada or out west in the US.
I have lived both in Phoenix and Winston Salem NC. Very nice places! N.C has some great hunting terrain, i was tracking up there one time, saw both turkey and deer....
I have to admit. I've never heard of using dogs or shotguns to hunt deer.
Dogs: No
Shotguns: Yes, It is normal to hunt deer with slugs or buckshot when you get in close enough. Really common when hunting doe's. Never heard of BB1 shells. I use 3 1/2in BB steel for geese.

I actually found a little movie clip about hunting deer, with dogs. We hunt with those small dogs, not really sure what the translation is. Anyhow, this is how it's done here

Here is a picture of my first game ever, 1 october, this year.
This hunt is for mountain grouse, very hard hunt, they live on the mountain peaks surrounding my area, it takes a good 4 hours to walk to the top.
