you kidding you need like a super-computer to run fsx smoothly, but I will say I have had every MS Flight SIm every made I have thousands of hours on that thing, hell I used to take off , go to bed, wake up and shoot an approach JFK-FCO usually worked out well

You ain't never lied. I have 2 gigs of memory, running Vista and still can't maximize the scenery and all the traffic. I'm considering adding another gig or two so that I can.
Btw, I've thought about doing a flight like that as well; maybe doing JTT to LAX before going to bed and then waking up just in time to start my initial descent into LAX.
Btw, a well known member of APC pm'd me one of his old 4 day trips. I going to fly it........at the LCL time as printed on his schedule!!!!

It is too bad that you couldn't sleep through real read eyes. Man I hated them. It was just like fight sim. Dark at night boring and you had to force yourself to stay awake all night.

Only 2 gigs with Vista? Ouch, I have 3 and wouldn't recommend anything less, in fact I'm thinking about going up to 4, which is the most you can get without going to the 64-bit edition...

I have blast with it. As a matter of fact, recently discovered that speed brakes causes the nose to pitch up and in some cases depending upon power setting and flaps, maintains a steady rate of descent.

In addition, I found out that when you're parked at a gate and getting ready for departure by pressing F2 reverses engines and you are able to do powerbacks. It seems to only work well with the 737-800's. Just tried it with an RJ and it's as slow as molasses running uphill during an Artic winter .
I use to watch DC-9's for Eastern Airlines do powerbacks all the time at PBI when I worked the ramp for Delta.

Just completed a "flight" from CLE-DCA, flying the RJ-7. Landed Rwy 15; N1 was @ 38.7; N2 was 68.7; 30 deg flaps; 40% flt spoiler (speed brake)....... man my heart was in my throat practically. It was intense. I can only imagine what the real thing is like.

I just got a new computer with 4 Gigs of Ram, and an amazing Graphics Card, about 375 Dollars. The whole computer was about $1700. It runs on High Very Very smooth, and on Ultra High very well, its not as good landing, but its not to choppy, still getting 10-15 FPS. So I usually keep everything on high, then plane on Ultra. It's a great game, but I would recommend 4Gigs for sure, and try to get the best Graphics card you can. Makes a huge difference!

The graphics card isn't the main thing you should look at when buying a new computer for flight simming. It's the processer that makes the big difference. Any AMD dual core will work great. I would stick away from intel mainly because the front side bus isn't as high, and you would be paying a lot more for just the name of the company. Nvidia graphics cards work the best with fsx especially when surrounded by lots of clouds. I would reccommend a graphics card with memory over 512mb built onto it. As for the RAM go for high performance gaming RAM and definatly get 4 gigs of duel channel if your motherboard supports it. O and btw remember to geta high watt power supply that will be able to handle your new graphics card. I have a 600W PSU now, and it's great. Anything above 500W should work with any of the newer cards out there, but remember if you want to do multiple graphics cards together then you'll have to upgrade to 800W and up PSU's.
What kind of joysticks are you guys using? I am setting up FS X on a 2.6 gigahertz machine with dual xeon processors 2gigs of RAM (WinXP)and a Gforce vid card with 768 gigs of memory on it. Should run nice.
