My solo is STILL clear in the data banks; on final I could hear my instructor
(without help of radio)saying,on final, "Runway-Airspeed-Runway-Airspeed-Runway-Airspeed..." I was his first student,also.

Thanks ,you ever hear the term 'back seat driver '? When Fred was home the last time we went up together and I found a new term 'back seat pilot' lol.
I was doing touch and go's and for the first 3 times all I heard was 'centerline' on the 4th attempt I kinda growled at him and he did'nt say a word .

My first CFI was ALWAYS talking while I was learning to land. For awhile I thought it was annoying and that I was never doing anything right. It even made me wonder if I could actually land without her in the cockpit!
Well...when the time came to solo and I went around the pattern that first time - I heard her right there with me - whispering all the words of wisdom in my ear.
My 'solo' t-shirt reads "No airsickness - just three beautiful landings..."
I don't remember much about those landings, but if she thought they were beautiful then her tactic must have worked

I vividly remember my first solo too. I lined up on the runway and thought- this is it, Senior. You're in charge. It's a one man show now. Make sure you don't bend anything!
