Is your exercise really worth this? Mace? A firearm for your bike?

Why not just find a nice, safe gym?

I've lived in ATL the majority of my life, and wouldn't consider this. Ever.

Crime down there is bad, but not that bad. The OP asked for opinions on where to run presumably because he hates gyms. The route I showed is a safe one even without a weapon. Since this is not a weapons debate and people have differing views you may not like them, and that's fine. I still recommend this route as I was never attacked going around it hundreds of times. Running would probably be even less of an issue for security than biking.

OK -

I just thought since you recommended riding his bike and/or running this route with a phone, mace, and some type of posssible firearm, this might not be the best place to exercise.

I prefer to get in my cardio without keeping my head on a swivel the entire time. Except for the morning gym moms around me.

I also prefer to get my cardio on an exercise bike behind another one with a hot girl on it.

Barrett Park at the corner of Rugby and Napoleon St always seemed safe to me during daylight hours. Lots of families walking the 1/5 mile walk path. Tennis courts too.
