Just a random post -

I am at the Academy right now... somewhat amazing that most of us were hired in at 12's, one guy at 9. Guess it is a region thing.

One thing you quickly learn is there is no 'standard' in Flight Standards.

Does anyone know how long it should take before your application status changes from "received" to "reviewed" or "referred"?

I can't directly answer this but I dug this out for a private message....

I dug back through e-mails - here is the timeline as I can put it back together.....

(all 2014)

July 19 - applied on USAJobs
August 8 - request to interview
August 14 - interview in Dallas
August 15 - reference requests went out
August 28 - tentative job offer

(followed by background check)

(check ride was originally scheduled for approximately September 8, but couldn't get travel arranged)

September 15 - check ride @ ADS
September 16 - formal job offer
September 28 - official start date

So, to answer the question, it appears roughly two weeks interview to job offer.

Thanks for the timeline and the quick response! I've read that the interview questions are KSA based. Are there any other areas that a applicant should be prepared for during the interview?

Be prepared to tell your aviation history and why you want to work at the FAA.

My offer after the first interview several months ago was for a level 9, the interviewers the second time around seemed puzzled that the office would even make such a low offer. Seems to be up to the hiring office, with 12 being the norm, as you said.

I keep getting placed on referral lists for my preference cities, so they are still looking to interview and hire for this year it would seem, for anyone still holding out hope. Best of luck!

I would think long and hard before turning down an ASI position at any Grade. Getting your foot in the door is much more difficult than getting a bump from a GS-9 to 11, then 12, 13, 14...

Hey everyone, thought I'd chime in. I have a GA and Air Carrier interview scheduled for the 10th.

@PerfInit I please check your inbox!

If there are any CMO inspectors that would be willing to answer some of my questions over the phone I would be VERY appreciative. To many questions to ask over the forums especially so close to my interview!
