Can anyone tell me once you are referred how long does it take to be contacted for an interview? (I realize that you may or may not be contacted for an interview, I'm just trying to get an idea of the time line.)

Took me about 3 weeks to hear about my first interview and about 1 week for my second interview.

Just received a "Inquiry as to Availability" letter from the FAA today for a position that I was referred for on July 29th. Is this what is sent out before possibly being offered an interview?

Sounds about right...Even though all of my "still interested" inquiries happened to be by phone. It's certainly not a bad sign.

I never received a letter just a phone call. From referral to Interview about a month. Now in limbo waiting to see if i move on in the interview process.

I did not receive a letter. They contacted via phone to schedule interviews so hopefully your letter is a good thing.

It most certainly has delayed the background check. I'm currently an ASI, I applied for a internal position in my office and after I was selected my FOL was delayed by 3 weeks. BTW.. Even If you are a current ASI and apply for another ASI position you still have to complete another Background Check!! You just have to LOVE the Federal Government.
